There are four categories of stone primarily used for outdoor landscape design; flagstone, cobblestones, veneer stone and cut stone. In the Province of Alberta, the native and natural stone sourced locally includes travertine, field stone, sandstone, limestone, slate and certain types of volcanic rock.
Individual pavers help add rich designer texture to any outdoor space, providing a hint of old-world charm and the long-term durability and organic appeal of natural stone. During this premium installation process, stones are hand sorted for shape, texture and color before being installed, one brick at a time on the prepared surface.
Creating an outdoor kitchen or expansive patio area? For larger outdoor areas, there is a new economical option. Concrete can be formed and stamped to appear as individual pavers or cobblestone designs, and then etched with no-slip textures and finishes to provide an attractive stone-substitute surface. The concrete fabricated method is also more resistant to surface changes over time, as the soil grade beneath individual stones shifts and can require re-leveling.
